About us

The aim of the Meirionnydd Artists Society is to provide opportunities for practising artists to exhibit their work as well as to encourage new, improving and/or hobby artists to explore their creativity or develop their talents.

Today all artists who live in the county of Meirionnydd are welcome as well those from farther afield; from the aspiring beginner to the more established practitioner.

Some of our members have their own pages in our Gallery, displaying samples of their work. If you wish to contact any artist please use the contact details they have provided on their page or Contact Us and we will pass the message on.

If you are interested in joining us or would to know more about the Meirionnydd Artists Societyplease Contact Us. New members are always warmly welcomed.

Our activities include:

  • Regular workshops are held with professional tutors in an encouraging atmosphere. The main focus is on painting and drawing techniques, but we do have a go at other subjects from time to time.
  • We have a programme of monthly Paint days giving encouragement and support to members who bring along their own pieces to work on.
  • We hold annual exhibition, which is open to all members. It provides a popular, well attended window for the Society, and an opportunity to sell and to socialise.

Established in 1958, our friendly society was originally founded
for professional artists as the County Art Society.

Among our early tutors and members: Sir Kyffin Williams, Karel Lek, Jonas Jones, Myfanwy Kitchin and Keeley Brazier. The tradition of quality has been maintained in more recent times with Howard Coles, Wendy Murphy and Rob Piercy as either former members or current tutors.

The Meirionnydd Artists Society is a registered charity, Registered Charity No. 1022131, with charitable objects:
To promote and advance the visual arts in all their aspects for the public benefit and furtherance of public knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the visual arts; including  arranging and holding exhibitions of artists works.
